Vilasrao Deshmukh, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, has agreed and announced the redevelopment of 223-hectare slum Dharavi.
Tenders from across the globe will be invited from countries like USA, Canada, Japan, Singapore, China, UK, UAE and others for the Dharavi Redevelopment Project.
The project will engage around Rs56 billion of investment.
Industries like pottery, ready-made garments and leather accessories will be developed here along with setting up of institutes for ceramic design, leather technology, gemology and fashion among others.
The project will be finished within seven years with private and public contribution.
