The President added that the Association had been addressing communications to the policy makers but the letters have remained un-responded. He said that the long term policy can only be the way forward and also the Textile Industry division into three sections, ginning, spinning and weaving, apparel both knit and woven and Home textiles will provide equal opportunities to big and small entrepreneurs of different sections to get their problems solves.
Mr. Ijaz replying to questions said that it has been represented time and again that where the exports are to the extent of 70 percent of the production EPU Policy be made applicable, raw material and accessories etc. be zero-rated and labour laws made similar to EPUs.
It was also said that Effluent treatment plants be constructed at all major export oriented clusters areas. Mr. Ijaz Khokhar also expressed concern over Government decision to reduce Research & Development subsidy from 6 percent to 3 percent.
He pleaded that originally approved R&D support of 6 percent should continue which has helped the industry to increase production substantially as majority of the active units have expanded their areas of production have installed high tech machines and computerized systems added for designing etc.
