As part of the ongoing realignment of its Supply Chain organisation (purchasing/ production/distribution) – Beiersdorf's most recent news in this context was the finalisation of the logistics restructuring in Germany, announced on February 21, 2007 – the Company is planning to transfer its production/product groups from Italy to Spain, Germany and Poland.

Beiersdorf Italy is located in Milan, generated revenues of € 378 million in 2006 and has 370 employees, 190 of which are based in the production plant in Brembate (near Milan).

The savings generated by the European realignment of the Supply Chain amount to € 100 million per annum. Beiersdorf will use these funds to invest in the development of new products and in brand-building.

Beiersdorf initially announced the realignment of the Supply Chain on November 22, 2005. At that time the transfer of a product group from Hamburg to Spain had been announced, all affected employees have been taken over into other areas in Hamburg.

Since then, further progress has been made across Europe, and each step was individually announced. Often new operators were found who could offer job perspectives to the affected employees.
