Rieter celebrates opening of new production facilities in China

On May 31st Rieter celebrated a milestone in its activities in China: The opening of its new production facilities at Changzhou. More than 300 VIPs, customers, local authorities and other guests accepted Rieter's invitation to Changzhou.

Peter Gnägi, CEO of Rieter's Division Textile, announced at the ceremony Rieter's strong intention to further expand its business in China. The inauguration was followed by three open house days, offering customers both potential and existing ones the opportunity to see Rieter products in detail and to have the technology explained by specialists from Europe.

A leading system supplier in the textile and automotive industries : Rieter is a Swiss-based industrial group with activities in all regions of the world. The group is a leading supplier of high technology products, systems and services in the automotive, textile and plastics industries.

In the 2006 financial year Rieter generated sales of CHF 3,580 million (approx RMB 23 billion) with more than 14,500 employees worldwide. The Textile Division accounted for CHF 1,401 millions (RMB 8.9 billions) and the Automotive Division for CHF 2,179 millions (RMB 14.1 billions) of the total sales.

Long-lasting activities in China : Rieter has been successful in business with China for more than 70 years. Including the plant in Changzhou, Rieter operates 3 plants and 6 sales offices in China. Rieter's Textile Division started its Changzhou operations in 1998.
