Uzbekistan tour, a success - TEA

Further to a trade delegation visit to Uzbekistan under the Chairmanship of Shri. A. Sakthivel from 8 th June 2007 to 13th June 2007, in a Press Release issued, Shri. A. Sakthivel said the trip to Uzbekistan was successful, very positive and fruitful.

The trade delegation comprising 16 exporters including Shri. P. Ammasaikutty, President, Tamilnadu Spinning Mills Association, (TASMA)Shri. K. Manthrachalam, Joint Secretary, TEA, Shri. E. Palanisamy MD, Armstrong Knitting Mills.

Shri. Sakthivel said that in Uzbekistan the delegation visited many spinning mills, weaving and non woven factories including garment units and they have been offered for either Joint Venture or take over of the companies owned by Uzbekistan Textile Ministry with attractive terms and conditions.

Shri. Sakthivel further informed that Uzbekistan, being a World Sixth largest cotton producer, was ready to offer discount in the cotton price from the Liverpool auction price.

Other attractive features in Uzbekistan are cheap labour, low power cost and gas cost apart from Income Tax holiday for investors and VAT refund for exporters.

As the delegation had found the attractive features exist in Uzbekistan, they made detailed discussions with Shri. Ruzikulor Rahmatullo, Minister of Textiles and Chairman of State Joint Stock Company.

The Minister of Textiles, Uzbekistan invited all for making investment in Uzbekistan and he was ready to offer all facilities mentioned above. In turn, the members of the delegation had shown keen interest for investments solely or joint venture in the companies.

Shri. A. Sakthivel feels that once the proposals are materialized, then the exporters could bring yarn and fabrics to Tirupur and use it for garment exports.

Finally, Shri. A. Sakthivel mentioned by going ahead with this venture, Tirupur can spread out it wings to other country and prove their mettle.
