Textile production speeds up

National yarn output in May, marked around 1.6 million tons, giving a rise of 19.7 percent over the same time last year.

From January to May, yarn production of the country reached 7.41 million tons, augmenting 20.6 percent over corresponding time of previous year.

Since 2006, production of yarn amounted to 13.8 million tons, climbing 20.3 percent.

In May, textile and garment exports registered US $13.16 billion, increasing $3.3 billion compared to last month, up 17.8 percent.

Textile and garment exports from January to May, amounted to $57.35 billion, with a boost of 15.6 percent compared to similar period of earlier year.

Since 2006, total exports of textile and garment touched $110 billion, mounting 20.4 percent from the corresponding time of the past year.

Since May, market price of 32s cotton yarn weakened amid steadiness, the monthly average price was 18,507 yuan per ton, less 13 yuan from month before.

Polyester staple fiber price continued to grow in May, with average rate at 11,727 yuan per ton, rising 371 yuan, up by 3.3 percent.

In May, the value of inland cotton of standard level and polyester staple fiber touched 1244 yuan per ton, down 417 yuan per ton from earlier month.
