This problem is magnified by the fact that there are 12 fashion cycles in a year. Heymann says that production and sales planning could go haywire as it did in Germany last autumn and winter. Sales of winter and winter-sports clothing suffered due to unnaturally high temperatures. This affected both manufacturers' and retailers' returns.
According to Heymann, the manufacturers' difficulty gets passed on to the textile industry. However, he adds that "high-quality technical textile products with specific characteristics could benefit." He also points out that keeping in mind the rise in temperatures, "breathable fabrics could further increase in importance for clothing."
