Cotton production decline for year 2006-07, KCA

WORLD COTTON SITUATION ( 2007-08):
According to the USDA, world cotton production for 2007-08 is estimated to decline to 115.787 million bales (bale of 480 lbs.) from 119.248 million bales in 2006-07.

Major decline in cotton production is projected in Brazil and USA where production is estimated to decline to 6.000 and 17.50 million bales from 7.000 and 21.59 million bales of 480 lb. respectively.

World cotton consumption is estimated to increase to 127.155 million bales in 2007-08 against 122.721 million bales estimated for 2006-07.

In China, the cotton consumption continues to increase from 45.00 million bales in 2005-06 to 50.00 million bales in 2006-07 and is estimated at 54.00 million bales in 2007-08. World exports for 2007-08 are estimated at 40.808 million bales as against 37.07 million bales in 2006-07.
