CPL contract prices show upward trend

During the first 14 days of January 2008, negotiations for caprolactam (CPL) contracts for month's shipment were still in progress.
Mainstream manufacturers in Taiwan, quoted prices at US $2,450 per ton (CFR L/C at sight), about $20-30 per ton over the December settlement. End users hoped that the transactions were made at the earlier month's price quotations.
China's domestic price was at 22700-23000 yuan per ton (shipment made by buyer).
The price of semi-dull nylon chips produced by Taiwan for January shipment was at $2700-2730 per ton (CFR China), some major suppliers offered as high a price as $2,770 per ton (CFR China)
