In 2007, the clothing industry of Liaoning Province made huge progress by taking advantage of adjustments in the industrial and product structure, by supporting new policies, and also by adopting technology and brand centered strategy.
Statistics reveal, in the period from January to November last year, around 566 big clothing enterprises accomplished a production value of 23.56 billion yuan, up 43.9 percent compared to the same period of 2006. The sales income reached 19.53 billion yuan, up by 45.8 percent and the export value was 11.98 billion yuan, rising by 33 percent.
According to expert's analysis, there are multiple reasons behind such growth in the local industry. Lots of domestic clothing enterprises adopted advanced technology to bring changes in the traditional industry, which in turn optimized the product structure, by enhancing their quality.
Besides, the provincial Government helped to set up research and development center and strengthened the establishment of the designer team. The export enterprises begun to design, produce and export their own brands of clothing. Few of the corporations fortified their sales network in, both, domestic and foreign markets through cooperation with international brands.
In addition, the support of the national and local Governments, as well as the local clothing associations also played important role in the healthy and swift development of the apparel industry. For instance, the Dalian city Authorities provide a special fund of 20 million yuan every year to support the local clothing industry.
