Turnovers remain modest during the week

Turnovers in the local market remained modest during the week under report. After the prices had clearly gone up in the preceding week, the quotations climbed further upward and gave way only towards the end of the reporting period.
The spinning mills exercised restraint because of the present complex situation and purchased just the most necessary. The trade could achieve small compensation for missing turnovers in the local sector in a slightly re-animated Asian market.
From among the Upland varieties, turnovers were registered in Central Asian sorts for the 1st and 2nd quarter 2008, as well as West African types for prompt and further dates as far as 3rd quarter 2008.
The turnovers in the ELS/LS range were limited onto Israel Pima cotton for prompt and Sudan Barakat for the 2nd to 4th quarter 2008.
