Seamless apparel sector awaits production standards

Yiwu city in China is one of the largest seamless-clothing production bases in the country and starting from the year 2000, this industry has seen a two-fold growth in its production capacity.
Experts from the China Knitting Industry Association, recently visited Yiwu city to examine the standards of production for seamless apparels. Presently, the country boasts of having around 6,000 sets of advanced seamless-apparel production equipments in China of which Yiwu city has nearly 5,000 sets.
However, there is an urgent need to set up a standard for these seamless clothes which are produced only in accordance with Chinese textile industry.
Initiatives have already been taken by Yiwu Seamless Woven Industrial Association which collaborated with China Knitting Industry Association to set standards for seamless clothes in 2006.
After two years of tireless efforts, it is expected that the associations would come up with a set of viable standards adaptable for the production of seamless clothing.
