FSCT to host three-part VLC on Coatings Fundamentals

Responding to the need for instruction on the basics of coatings technology, the FSCT will host a three-part Virtual Learning Series (VLC) on Coatings Fundamentals.
On April 3, "Part I: Overview, Formulation, and Polymers" will focus on the fundamentals of formulation. Part II, on April 10, will concentrate on "Polymers, Surface Chemistry, Rheology, and Additives."
Part III of the course, "Solvents, Pigments, and Coating Testing," will be held on April 24. Ernest Galgoci, of Air Products, will serve as instructor for all three courses.
These online conferences will provide a basic introduction to the principles, processes, and products involved with coatings technology.
The courses are designed to convey relevant information to attendees who have minimal or no chemistry background, although a basic knowledge of chemistry is helpful.
Participants will learn the fundamental principles and important calculations for paint formulation, as well as the role of resins, pigments, solvents, and additives in formulating. Emphasis will also be on how to diagnose and solve paint defects.
Who Should Attend:
These practical courses are intended for those in the coatings industry from the sales, manufacturing, finance, and management areas who seek a basic introduction to coatings technology. The courses are also suitable for lab technicians new to the industry.
