Bai Chi-chung, the newly appointed President, Taiwan Textile Research Institute (TTRI), wants the centre to focus more on production of dust-free room filters, required by domestic textile units.
Presently, Taiwan mostly imports such filters as there are many problems related in manufacturing them. However, now, TTRI, wants to manufacture these filters locally and if results are successful, they can think of exporting them as well.
Bai Chi strongly belives that filter-making can emerge as a high reveneu generating industry for the country.
Taiwan had a strong hold in the global market, but presently the country has started losing its grip because of stiff competetion from low cost producing countries like India and China.
Taiwan manufacturers have also gained proficiency in making synthetic fibers, so the organization will focus on research and development of these, to help local enterprises.
To retain the past glory, TTRI, is ready to provide all the necessary help which the textile and nonwoven industry wants, in terms of latest technology and products.
