To revive the golden fibre, Jute Manufacturing Development Council (JMDC), organizes various exhibitions nation wide. One such six day expo began in Gangtok on March 25. The fair was inaugurated by Mr NK Pradhan, MLA, Gangtok.
More than 20 participants from Cooch Bihar, West Bengal and Sikkim are displaying various jute products like bags, footwears, rugs, cushion covers and decorative items.
Lot of visitors are expected at the exhibition, as golden fibre has lately become popular because it is eco-friendly nature and low price of products.
Jute has become one of the most sought after raw material as it does not affect the nature. The demand has increased not only in the domestic market but international consumers are also equally eager for the artifacts made of Jute.
JDMC hopes that, local industries can earn a lot from such expositions organised in the region.
