Hike in textile & garment exports to EU

According to Customs Statistics, total textile and apparel export of China, reached nearly US $14.928 billion, in January, an increase of 27.2 percent compared to same period last year. Exports to EU saw a rise of 37.1 percent by earning around $3.427 billion.
Ministry of Commerce data shows that, among the exports of eight categories to the EU under surveillance, permitted visa volume of 5 categories, in January increased over 100 percent compared to same period of 2007.
Permitted quantity under export visa of category 20 was 42,63,949 kilograms, witnessing an increase of around 187 percent and for category 5 it was around 5,27,51,504 kilogram boosting almost 187.68 percent.
In January 2008, a growth was observed in exports to EU. Zhejiang Province alone exported textile and garment products worth approximately $1.165 billion, enjoying a rise of 42.6 percent. Wherein garment share was $776 million, up by 39.6 percent and textile products accounted for $390 million, showing a rise of 49.04 percent.
Total textile exports from Ningbo Port to the EU came to around $407 million, a hike of 59.04 percent. Garment exports reached up to $210 million, an increase of 52.9 percent and textile contributed around $196 million, rising by 66.1 percent.
Pullover exports of category 5, among the eight categories under monitoring system were $17.622 million, rising 1.1 times over the same period last year. Clothes exported under category 20 increased nearly 3.1 times by reraching $2.119 million.
Shaoxing textile and garment exports to the EU hit the highest level for the same period in history since the opening of Shaoxing Customs. Statistics show that in January, textile and apparel exports from Shaoxing city reached approximately $974.16 million, an increase of 41 percent. Of which textile contributed nearly $119.7 million, marking 46.86 percent rise.
