The Central Cottage Industries Emporium (CCIE) has organized a 10 day exhibition of vibrant Lambani craft at its premises in New Delhi.

The expo which commenced on March 21 will run till the 31st of this month. Inaugurated by a popular Kannada film actress Tara, the fair displays a collection of Lambani craft sourced from the area around Sandur in Bellary district.

This fair exhibits a wide range of goods including bags, large and small purses, mobile cases, cushion covers, bed sheets, wall hangings, and exquisite cotton saris.

Craftsmen involved in producing these goods have been given special training to create products through their inherent talent as well as by making use of contemporary innovative skills.

Lambani embroidery is popular all over the country and the craft is recognized for the skill and meticulous mix of bright colors and patchwork of mirrors.

Connoisseurs express a keen interest in Lambani handlooms and handicrafts because of their vibrancy in both pattern and color. Besides, the unique technique of sewing mirrors and integrating them in the overall design has also attracted a large number of buyers.

CCIE has also sourced some rare and exquisite, antique-looking Jodhpur carved furniture with copper and brass inlay work, as well as painted items that aptly reflect the characteristics of the area.

Also for the first time this year, CCIE has announced a 10 percent discount, on both the items displayed in the exhibition as well as on those in the showroom.
