While addressing to the industrialist at a meeting in Coimbatore, West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya invited Tamil Nadu entrepreneurs to establish their units in his state.

The Chief Minister suggested that the industrialist could invest in textile units of West Bengal which will in turn help generate more employment for the local people.

Moreover, these entrepreneurs will have the advantage of availing a range a benefits emerging from a number of concessions grants to the textile units in the state.

Additionally, the presence of petrochemical units would enable textile units to manufacture synthetic fibre.

Nirupam Sen, West Bengal Industry and Commerce Minister, also told the media that the textile industry in Tamil Nadu accounted for nearly 40 percent of the country's textile sector and it was time that entrepreneurs made a shift to other states as well.

However, industrialists have put forward certain demands like uninterrupted power supply, low tariff and efficient transport facilities for setting up their units. With regard to this issue, Mr Nirupam Sen assured that all the interested entrepreneurs will be provided with necessary facilities conducive to healthy working atmosphere.

Following the meeting, Southern India Mills Association (SIMA) and Coimbatore District Smallscale Industries Association (CODISSIA) have decided to send a delegation to West Bengal for exploring the possibilities of setting up textile units there.
