Bilateral trade with Cambodia depicts an upward trend

In the year 2007, bilateral trade between Cambodia and China reached US $933 million, registering a rise of 193.6 percent from the figures of 2004.
While exports from China amounted to $882 million, it spend $51 million in imports from Cambodia marking a surge of over 195 and 170 percent respectively in the said period.
China mainly exported yarn, fabrics, apparel, clothing accessories and agricultural products among others. Cambodia on the other hand exported natural rubber, woods, textile yarns, clothes, accessories and other related products.
Statistics on the other hand show that by the end of 2007, China's investment in Cambodia amounted to $190 million whereas investment made by Cambodia in the country stood at $84 million.
Efforts are being made by both the sides to jointly set up Cambodian Taihu International Economic Trade Cooperation Area in Cambodia.
This will cover an area of 11.08 square kilometer and require a total investment of 2.6 billion yuan. It will mainly comprise the textile & clothes industry, new technology industry and the machinery industry.
