Seminar to boost bi-lateral trade with Thailand

Bi-lateral trade plays a vital role in earning foreign revenue and building strong relations with other countries. In order to enhance the two way trade with Thailand, Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo will organize Thailand Business Forum on May 12 in the capital.

'Trade and Investment Opprotunities in Thailand and Sri Lanka', under which the seminar will take place is foreseen as a perfect meeting ground for the entrepreneurs of both countries to venture into new deals.

The leading businessmen will be able to benefit from the discussions that will mainly focus on various investment probabilities and measures to overcome problems faced by enterprises.

Some eminent speakers from Commerce of Thailand, Board of Investment of Thailand and Sri Lankan Board of Investment and the Federation of Industry of Sri Lanka will provide valuable advice to the entrepreneurs.

Sri Lanka is one of the biggest consumer of Thai products in South Asian region. Statistics show that total trade volume between countries reached more than US $3 billion in 2007.

Last year, Sri Lanka imported various products including textiles and synthetic fibre worth $2 billion from Thailand, in turn exporting commodities like precious gems, bars of gold and silver and textile items.

The officials are anticipating a lot of positive out come and active participation in the seminar from both nations.
