Experts believe that competitive coefficient (total import and export volume) is one of the important indicators to measure the strength of international competitiveness of industries in a country. It is generally believed that the closer the coefficient is to 100 percent, the stronger the competitiveness and vice-versa.
Since 2001, export competitiveness of polyester filament yarn and polyester staple fibre has continually increased. In 2007, the export competitiveness coefficient of polyester filament increased to 38.64 percent from 14.63 percent of the previous year while the export competitiveness coefficient of PSF advanced from -1.85 percent of the previous year up to 26.73 percent. However, export competitiveness coefficient of polyester chips slightly declined from 58.69 percent to 55.31 percent.
