It has been increasingly observed that the textile industry of Hong Kong is becoming more aware about the environment and its protection. With regard to this, enterprises have also taken the initiative to carry out certain laws to ensure that manufacturing firms abide by these standards to maintain ecological balance.
Moreover, eco-friendly products are rapidly gaining popularity in the world market and presently, over 500 Hong Kong textile enterprises have passed the 'Oeko-Tex Standard 100' which lays down criteria for raw materials, half finished and finished products of the textile industry.
So far 84 countries have carried out these standards with Germany taking a lead having the most number of enterprises qualifying for the tests, followed by China, Turkey, Italy and Hong Kong.
The Environment Protection Prize of Hong Kong, which was sponsored by Hong Kong textile & clothes manufacturers and the local dyeing and printing processing association, has also played a role in seeking the attention of the global environmental-protection fields.
