Earlier in her welcome address the Chamber President Smt. Paruben Jaykrishna said that in this no cost project all the parties – industries and students have benefited. She said that the Chamber will continue its FOCUS programme with the help of other industries.

In the end, Shri Natvarlal Patel, Hon. Secretary of the Chamber proposed a vote of thanks.

FOCUS – Fraternity of Career Upgradation Scheme, a novel initiative of the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry ended today with the completion of training of 42 students of the NavGujarat Group of colleges of Ahmedabad.

FOCUS aims to be a link between college students desiring employment at the end of their study and industries in need of trained manpower according to their requirements.

In the first phase of FOCUS, 55 students were given intensive training of Infrastructure Management for one hour on three days in a week, alongwith their college education. The six month training included lectures of technical experts, case studies, group discussions and visit to several projects of airport, ports, jetties etc. at Mundra in Kutch district.

“FOCUS” is a successful initiative to help in resolving the problems of unemployment of youth and lack of requirements of skilled manpower in the industrial sector. If the scheme is expanded to provide employment oriented training to students with the cooperation of industries, it will increase employability of students.
