Zegna creates a world of wool for its consumers

So reputable is the name of Ermenegildo Zegna that it becomes difficult to judge which is better, the soft lustrous fleece of superfine wool or the delicate flossy fabric catered by the company.

Zegna has earned an invincible name in the wool industry and this is amply borne out by the fact that for the past four decades and over the Ermenegildo Zegna Award is being conferred to the world's best superfine wool celebrating the strong bond between woolgrower and the fashion house.

The company has been completely immersed in the process of production starting from obtaining fleece to making it available to the customers.

Zegna has acknowledged the fact that companies like Hugo Boss and others have refused to use wool from sheep that have been mulesed. However, according to its own experience, if the sheep are prevented from getting mulesed, it would only lead to the death of a majority of them because of maggots.

The fine wool obtained from the sheep is gradually receiving a greater market share although its present world consumption is less than 2 percent of the total consumption of fibres.

The company had so far focused on high-end classic menswear and now it aims to reach out to other consumers as well.
