Evonik Degussa generates organic growth of 9%

This management report is a combined management report for the Evonik Degussa Group and Evonik Degussa GmbH.
Given the infl uence of the segments, statements relating to the development of the segments in the Evonik Degussa Group also apply for Evonik Degussa GmbH.
The business performance of Evonik Degussa GmbH is outlined in a separate section of this management report. The consolidated financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and the fi nancial statements of Evonik Degussa GmbH have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of the German Commercial Code (HGB).
Performance and business conditions:
The Evonik Degussa Group has been fully integrated into the Evonik Group since January 1, 2007 as the Chemicals Business Area.
As a result of the restructuring of Evonik, around 1,800 employees were transferred from the corresponding corporate management functions and central service units of the Evonik Degussa Group to Evonik's new Corporate Center and Shared Service Center effective January 1, 2007.
The site-related service units were allocated to the operating segments. To improve comparability, we have restated the segment data for the previous year to reflect this new structure.
The consolidated figures for the Evonik Degussa Group are not fully comparable with those for fiscal 2006 as sales and expenses for the functions transferred toEvonik Industries AG and Evonik Services GmbH are not included.
