Despite abundance of oil and natural gas in the nation, Nigeria still has a weak economy. In order to uplift the sluggish economy, the Government is trying to strengthen its bilateral trade relation with various nations.

With an aim to increase and promote two way trade with foreign countries, Aba Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ACCIMA), is planning to organize the first ever Abia International Trade Fair, under the banner 'The Power Of Partnership in Global Business Deals', in Nsulu Games Village, from September 22 to October 1, 2008.

As theme suggests, the purpose for holding this expo is to bring global exhibitors and buyers together under one roof for venturing into new business deals. The fair will also serve as a significant platform for domestic enterprises to showcase their products in front of international companies and gain overseas orders.

The organizers believe that, there is huge potential in the country and there are enormous resources that are yet to be explored, including telecommunications, power, textile and oil. Nigeria aims to revive its stagnant economy through overseas investments by building its image as a reliable trade partner.

Along with the expo there will be events like 'Miss International Trade Fair', which will attract visitors to the venue. There will be cash prize as well as international modeling contract for the crowning beauty.
