Production at a naphtha cracker and five other plants in South Korea, which came to halt on May 3 because of power failure, will commence operations soon.
Located at the largest petrochemical complex, Yecheon NCC, a naphtha cracker, and Hanhwa Chemical Co were some of the most affected by the unfortunate incident.
While some of the plants have already started normal production, others will resume operation by today.
The exact cause of power cut is yet to be determined, however, an estimate damage of Won 10 billion has been recorded.
According to the state run Korea Electric Power Corporation, power outage may have been caused due to an outdated lightning arrester at Hanhwa Chemical which was being used more than its 15 years of lifespan.
However, the latter argued against the accusation saying that such devices are customarily used for 30 to 40 years.
