ISM honors Persons of the Year

Institute for Supply Management (ISM) announced Persons of the Year Award winners at an invitation-only appreciation breakfast. The ISM Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast and Awards Presentation was held in St. Louis in conjunction with the ISM Annual International Supply Management Conference and Educational Exhibit.
Award winners were recognized for efforts and accomplishments achieved during the prior year. The Persons of the Year Awards recognize excellence in Education/Learning, Innovation/Creativity, Leadership, Marketing/Communicating and Volunteerism. Recipients of ISM's 2007 Persons of the Year Award are:
Education/Learning Person of the Year — Eileen Byrne-Halczyn, Ph.D., A.P.P., ISM—Florida Gulf Coast Inc.
The Education/Learning Person of the Year is a member who has made significant contributions that advanced educational and training opportunities through continuous improvement of ISM products and programs. Eileen Byrne-Halczyn, Ph.D., A.P.P., is honored for her “passion to teach to others everything that she has learned and everything that is needed for people to be successful in supply chain.”
She has planned and led numerous seminars, plant tours and training events. She continually encourages fellow members to take advantage of leadership training, certification and other educational opportunities and resources. In addition, she mentors students at the middle school, high school, and university level.
Innovation/Creativity Person of the Year — Jim Haining, C.P.M., A.P.P., ISM—Nevada Inc.
The Innovation/Creativity Person of the Year is a member who has demonstrated an innovative approach to the work, the profession or program through use of initiative and creativity, which improved their own performance. Jim Haining, C.P.M., A.P.P., is honored for his successful efforts to act as a change agent and advocate for continuous improvement to take advantage of new technology available.
Under Haining's leadership, a variety of Web-based technologies were used to conduct member surveys, streamline administrative functions and facilitate online registration and secure payment for affiliate activities. Haining has been the catalyst to make changes required to keep ISM—Nevada, Inc. in sync with the needs of its members.
