Smt Meira Kumar distributes scholarships to SC students

The Dr. Ambedkar National Merit Scholarships are given to recognize, promote and assist meritorious students belonging to weaker sections for pursuing higher studies. These Scholarships are given to the three students scoring highest marks in the regular class Xth level examination conducted by the State Education Boards and Central Boards/Council.
There are separate scholarships for SCs and STs. In case none of the first three eligible students is a girl, the student scoring the highest marks in the merit list shall get a special award.
Thus there shall be four awards for each of the 29 Boards for SCs and STs separately. In case of more than one student getting the same marks, the number of awards would be suitably increased for covering all such eligible students.
