India's first Institute of Apparel Management (IAM) promoted by AEPC Society for Human Resource Development under the aegis of Apparel Export Promotion Council, which was conceived to provide cutting edge education to professionals in apparel industry was inaugurated on 18th September 2007.
The Institute has initiated partnerships and training agreement with international institutes in fashion & apparel management arena such as Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia; Nottingham Trent University, UK; Manchester Metropolitan University, UK; LDT, Nagold, Germany; Lasalle College of Arts, Singapore and London College of Fashion, UK.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on education cooperation between the IAM and the Fair Labor Association (FLA) has been signed regarding the conduct of seminars for apparel trade members & short term programmes.
The institute is an education member of International Apparel Federation (IAF), which is a global association open to entrepreneurs and executives from the apparel chain worldwide and National Retail Federation (NRF), USA, the world's largest retail trade association.
IAM is successfully running 1 year full time post graduate programme "Apparel Marketing & Merchandising" and 1 year part time programme "Apparel Retail Merchandising". A group of 13 students are undertaking one month customized programme at London College of Fashion.
The programme is scheduled from 2nd May, 2008 onwards. The students of both the batches are schedule to undertake an 8 weeks industry internship /project in India.
