Further the General Manager opined, “Chemical Manufacturers for textile as well as Logistics Industry will be bound to adopt IT solutions in the coming years for their own betterment.”

The lack of up-to-date technology is one major reason for the lack of quality and cost competitiveness for small and medium size players. Supporting this statement Mr Chatterjee asserted, “This is one of the reasons for just 20 percent growth in the textile and apparel segment during past year. Industrialists from textile, apparel, fashion, chemicals, machinery, and logistics sectors need to understand whole value chain and try to find out strength and weakness in each segment to understand their competitiveness and sketch their course of action and investment plan accordingly.”

According to Mr Chatterjee, during the last Vibrant Gujarat Global Investor's Summit 2007, the industry had witnessed MoUs worth Rs85 billion. Of these, around 85 percent of projects are under implementation or commissioned already, which is ofcourse a good news for the indiustry.
