Katsina central market was in flames once again devastating property and goods worth millions of Naira.
Sources informed that fire gripped the market at about 5 in the morning on June 3 and emanated from the textile section. Over 50 shops were gutted by the fire which flared for about four hours before it was successfully brought under control by the fire tenders.
Cause of the fire is still to be known but traders in the market were alleging that power surge had a major role to play in making such a colossal damage possible.
A number of shop owners were dumfounded because it was only recently that some of these shops had gone in for a renovation and restocked with new wares.
The incident was very unfortunate especially since the market had come out of the damage caused by a similar fire in February this year which destroyed some 100 shops.
