MCC PTA India (MCPI), an India-based purified terephthalic acid producer is anticipating completing its second PTA line in Haldia by December this year.
Sources from the company confirmed Fibre2fashion that the second production line of MCC PTA, capable of producing 800,000 metric ton per year is scheduled to get completed by June 2008.
MCPI may even begin a trial run of its new line in January 2009 and get ahead with commercial production the very next day.
The existing production line with a capacity of 350,000 metric ton per year is located in Haldia, West Bengal and was brought into operation in 2000. After two separate upgradation, the plant's original capacity was enhanced to 470,000 metric ton per year.
The upcoming second line with a capital investment of US $370 million employs proprietary technology from Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation, Japan, which has a 66 percent stake in the company. The line will allow the company to produce 1.27 million metric tons per year of PTA in Haldia.
