Rayon yarn market remains dull in June

Rayon yarn market continued to be sluggish in June 2008 as the market sentiment was dull and trade volume was relatively small.
According to Chinese yarn index, rayon yarn price index lowered all the way in June. The price fell from 21,200 yuan per ton at the beginning of the month to 19,700 yuan per ton by the end of the month, down nearly 1,500 yuan per ton.
Rayon sale in various professional markets was also poor, while the spinning enterprises showed little interest in VSF due to poor demand.
Rayon yarn exports also recorded steep slide. In May China exported 3685.76 tons of rayon yarn in total, sharply down from the same period last year and a substantial reduction from the previous month.
Although several spinning enterprises have diversified and started concentrating on manufacturing other products, they are still having major trouble clearing out their large rayon yarn stocks.
According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics, May production of above scale enterprises continued to increase substantially. Of these, output of pure chemical fibers climbed 2.92 percent from that in April, representing a year-on-year rise of 15.48 percent.
