Reflecting the ongoing and significant rise of raw material, energy and transport costs, Colbond announced an increase of prices in Europe and Asia for its entire product range by 6-9% effective September 1, 2008. A similar step was taken in North America.
“We are constantly looking for opportunities to mitigate the impact of cost increases by means of efficiency improvements and substantial achievements have been made.” said Axel Poscher, Colbond Vice President.
“An average cost increase of over 10% for our core raw materials (polyamide, polyester and polypropylene) during the past 12 months however now forces us to pass part of the increase on to our customers.”
The company states that the need for price increases has been further reinforced by energy and transportation costs which have also risen sharply with no downward trend projected for the foreseeable future.
