IAFIL presents Autumn-Winter 2009/10 knitwear collection

The collection that IAFIL, Industria Ambrosiana Filati, presents at Pitti Filati is summed up perfectly in its slogan: “Green is the new black”.

It underscores a philosophy of excellence in colours, in the range of shades and in the dyeing skills applied to its top yarns, while creating renewed interest in natural products.

In order to emphasise what was started eight seasons ago with cotton (BIO and BIO NATURA, the company's certified organic cottons), IAFIL's new alpaca and merino wool blends for winter 2009/10 have also become EARTH FRIENDLY, available in a range of natural colours using natural or eco-sustainable dyes.

LOVE ALPACA, from 100% top-quality alpaca, is also BIO (ORGANIC) as it is a completely natural yarn produced without any chemical processing and offered in its natural colours.

Rare blends of precious fibres such as silk and cashmere, Peruvian Pima and cashmere, and linen and cashmere enliven the collection that Industria Ambrosiana Filati proposes alongside its classic products - the ELS (Extra-Long Staple) cottons, Pima and Suvin yarns - in a premium selection dedicated to winter.

The new yarns:
CHUNKY: a thick, multi-ply yarn for connoisseurs with tactile and casual characteristics. Alpaca and merino wool are blended to form a totally winter thread for cold climates, in EARTH FRIENDLY colours.
CHUNKY: 50% alpaca - 50% merino - count Nm 2/14 - Nm 3/14 - gauge 7- 5
CONNEMARA: a yarn with an extremely soft hand, created with ultra-fine gauges, which combines the best qualities of two natural fibres.

Following its summer debut, the yarn is also featured in the autumn-winter collection, appearing almost provocative among the most classic blends of the season. Linen is combined with cashmere for a highly exclusive blend.

Formed by twisting a fine linen thread with an ultra-refined cashmere one, the resulting yarn combines coolness and softness.

CONNEMARA: 50% linen - 50% cashmere - count Nm 2/50,000- gauge 12-14.
STAR: a yarn with a soft hand conferred by cashmere and exceptionally fine wool blended with precious Peruvian Pima cotton.
STAR: 70% pima cotton - 10% cashmere - 20% wool - count Nm 2/30 - gauge 12.
SHANT: a 100% tussah silk yarn that creates shot effects on the knitted fabric. The irregularity of the fibre spun by the wild silkworm adds an attractive streaked look to the natural sheen of the yarn.
SHANT: 100% tussah shot silk - count Nm 20,000 - gauge 8.
135'S: an ultra-fine dyed melange, featured for the first time in the knitwear collection in ten classic and very masculine colours, for a very clean, linear yarn.
135'S: 100% Peruvian pima ELS - count Nm 2/135 - gauge 18.
BOTERO: a yarn whose beauty, hand and large gauge (3) make it seem almost “presumptuous”. For knits with a sartorial tricot feel. Can be dyed in all the stock service colours.
BOTERO: 100% ELS cotton - count Nm 1,000 - gauge 3.
