CIBA XYMARA at 100% Design to enhance carbon fiber performance

Ciba will be showcasing an array of striking new concepts that offer scope for new effects and styling at 100% Design, at stand no. R70 and at the Ciba XYMARA Theatre in the Earls Court Exhibition Centre in London, from September 18 to 21.

The Company will also be announcing the winner of its new XYMARA Design Award. The latest innovations from Ciba, to be presented at the show, include a unique “color-travel” pigment and a range of sparkling stylings for printing.

In addition, Ciba will be introducing a new technology for enhancing the performance of carbon fibers.

“100% Design is the ideal occasion for Ciba to demonstrate the contribution it can make by helping designers to exploit technological innovations to create remarkable new designs,“ said Carla Sorato, Head of e-Business and Communication in Ciba's Coating Effects Segment. “We will be showcasing our wide range of options for exciting and innovative effects.”

The Ciba XYMARA Design Award will be presented to the student who best combines function and form in a design using Ciba XYMARA effects.

Sponsors and judges of the award include L'Oréal, Vodafone, RENOLIT, Material ConneXion, form Magazine and designer Chris Lefteri.

“The XYMARA Design Award encourages cutting-edge design from the next generation of designers, and gives them the opportunity to publicize their work and to make contact with other designers,” said Le Vin Chin, Editor-in-chief of Ciba's design website.

“The winning design will both fit the purpose of the product and provide that extra touch that makes the object stand out.”

Entrants to the Ciba XYMARA Design Award competition were able to submit product designs enhanced and enriched through the use of Ciba XYMARA effects.

Sponsored by Ciba, the Ciba XYMARA Theatre, which will feature novel design ideas in an unusual display, will be the venue for the XYMARA Design Award ceremony, which will take place at 17.00 on September 18, and for the presentation on carbon fibers, which will be given on September 19 from 16.15 to 17.15 as part of 100% Detail's Innovations Showcase within 100% Design.

Amongst the wide array of XYMARA effects that will be on show at 100% Design, the latest include a versatile new color-travel pigment and a sparkling range of Ciba XYMARA Nordic stylings for printing.

The new pigment gives a unique visual effect, its shade varying from orange/gold to a deep cherry red, as the angle of observation changes.

XYMARA Nordic stylings for printing reflect natural shades, enhanced with additional sparkle, shimmer and shine. These two latest innovations from Ciba are described in greater detail in separate press releases and brochures.

With its innovative XYMARA products and technology solutions, Ciba is continuously expanding the scope for designers to create intriguing and exciting surfaces.

The broad Ciba XYMARA range includespearlescent, metallic, mirror, fluorescent, rainbow and marker effects.
