The International Oeko-Tex Association will participate in the inaugural eco-textile industry conference, The Green Event, at the Millennium Hotel in New York City, September 18 and 19.

Oeko-Tex will be part of the Green Stamps expert panel which will give attendees practical advice on textile certification programs to support their company's sustainability strategy. The Green Stamps panel will convene at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19.

Dina Dunn, who will represent Oeko-Tex on the Green Stamps panel, supports the need for industry education. “Interest in sustainable and environmental textiles is at an all time high with consumers and retailers. However, textile products executives need to thoroughly understand the many options available in today's global market so they can make the most effective choices for their company and their customers.”

“The Green Event has received an enthusiastic response from textile product executives,” says Karla Magruder of Textile Insight magazine and organizer of The Green Event. “These companies are eager to embrace an environmentally friendly business strategy. At The Green Event, they will obtain facts, advice, and concrete details for producing and legitimately marketing 'real' green textiles.”

Jeff Nott of Formula4Media, producers of The Green Event and publishers of Textile Insight, is looking forward to the conference. “Participants will have access to some of the industry's most renowned authorities. Regulatory, marketing, corporate strategy, consumer experts, and more—they will be there to share their expertise and insights.”

In addition to participating on the expert panel Oeko-Tex will be sponsoring a cocktail reception for conference participants. The reception will be held at the Millennium Hotel following the September 18 conference sessions. Oeko-Tex executives from the US and Europe will be available to discuss textile certification with their guests.
