The National Association of Italian Footwear Manufacturers, ANCI, is joining, along with other associations of fashion/accessory manufacturers, the “Anti Counterfeit Cube” organized by Milan Fair, giving its support to an operation aimed at raising awareness of the public, and visitors to fairs in the sector, of a problem, counterfeiting, that puts Italy among the first countries in the world for production, transformation and consumption of counterfeit goods.

ANCI will therefore present, within the “Anti Counterfeit Cube”, samples of counterfeit goods alongside original products, to demonstrate the numerous and substantial differences.

The cube, which will be set up in the Milan-Rho Trade Fair complex on occasion of the exhibitions planned for September at Porta Est, will also welcome visitors from MICAM ShoEvent, the show dedicated to shoe fashion organized by ANCI, that from Wednesday 17th to Saturday 20th will be hosted in the fair pavilions with access via the same entrance.

“Through this initiative we want to reiterate”, confirms Vito Artioli, ANCI's president, “how dangerous any form of counterfeiting is to the market and to Italian firms and our active commitment to combat it, a commitment that we have also been able to reaffirm in meetings with Government representatives that we have had in the last few months.

Aware that counterfeiting is primarily a cultural problem, our participation in the “Anti Counterfeit Cube” would like to provide a positive example of collaboration, the aim of which is to raise public awareness on the subject.

These are essential communication projects that must integrate and reinforce the repression of counterfeiters and the necessary administrative sanctions for consumers.”

“On this subject”, the president continues, “we are in favour of administrative sanctions for the final buyers of counterfeit products, that do not however criminalize them through excessive and inapplicable amounts of money but through small fines that discourage wrong-doing, thus provoking a change of mentality towards an activity, the purchase of counterfeit goods, that is considered little more than a venial sin”.

With its participation in the “Anti Counterfeit Cube” ANCI therefore intends to change the informal attitude towards counterfeiting, and acceptance of it, a distorted perspective that hampers any serious attempt to generate a culture of respect for intellectual property and for legality in general.
