Paul Jonson from DHL Express named 'Courier of the Year'

Mill Hill local and DHL Express courier, Paul Johnson, has been crowned 'Courier of the Year' in the Contract category at the Institute of Couriers (IOC) National Courier Awards.

Paul was selected by a panel of esteemed judges from within the express and logistics sector, overseen by former Transport Minister and Vice President of the Institute, Steve Norris.

The award recognises the skill, dedication and positive attitude shown by individuals within the same day courier industry. Having worked in West London for four years, Paul has built up a strong rapport with his customers and gone above and beyond his day-to-day duties.

Paul said: “It was a pleasant surprise to be given the title of Courier of the Year and I'm very proud. I think no matter what job you're doing it's always nice when someone takes the time to say thank you, and it was great to be recognised.”

Paul's manager, Louise Blair, said: “Paul was nominated because he is extremely dedicated to his job and it's great to see him recognised for the outstanding contribution he makes to DHL.”

Paul was nominated for constantly going the extra mile. On one occasion he remained at work beyond his shift (until 6:00am) completing the necessary paperwork on behalf of a customer, so that an important package belonging to a key customer could progress on its journey.

Simon Croft, Managing Director DHL Sameday UK, added: “Paul and his colleagues are the vital last link in the delivery chain, making sure that packages from around the world arrive safely at their destinations on time. With a network that links more than 220 countries and territories, DHL is the first choice for customers because of its extensive reach but it's people like Paul who ensure our service is second to none.”

The Heathrow Service Centre, where Paul works, is one of the country's busiest for DHL, handling around 850 shipments each week.
