A first at MANN+HUMMEL: the development partner and original equipment supplier to the international automotive and mechanical engineering industries for the first time presented the Global Supplier Award.

“Seven partners have met our requirements in truly outstanding fashion. It gives us great pleasure to acknowledge them by presenting the MANN+HUMMEL Group Global Supplier Award.”
The Global Supplier Award is presented to suppliers for their outstanding achievements. Following the Company's Global Supplier Conference in Stuttgart, under the motto 'connected for success', Dr. Dieter Seipler, CEO of the MANN+HUMMEL Group and Mr. Frank B. Jehle conferred the awards to the following top suppliers: Adamas, filter media manufacturer, Osasco, Brazil; Argomm, manufacturer of seals, Villongo, Italy; Eltek, manufacturer of electromechanical products, Casale Monferrato, Italy; Kaye's Presteigne, castings manufacturer, Presteigne, UK; MICROTECHNIC, manufacturer of plastic components, Monaco; Sebros Enterprises, manufacturer of metal parts, Haryana, India; SmirfitKappa Group, corrugated paper manufacturer, Plattling, Germany.
Suppliers, if they are to be successful and receive the Global Supplier Award, must meet demanding criteria: professional cost management, quality and environmental protection, innovative capability – regarding, for example, optimised or alternative materials, professional supply chain management, professional project management and an international presence.
These criteria reflect the challenges of the market which component suppliers like MANN+HUMMEL must overcome. The requirements which suppliers have to meet in fact extend far beyond product quality.
The customers of the MANN+HUMMEL Group operate globally and award complex projects involving several sites, sometimes located in different continents.
Through its international development and production network, MANN+HUMMEL is in a position to undertake these complex projects, and makes corresponding demands on its own supply base.
Continuously increasing demands from MANN+HUMMEL's customers regarding quality and performance, and the relentlessly upward trend in raw material and energy prices present strategic challenges for the purchasing team and their partners.
It is their task to obtain top quality materials for MANN+HUMMEL products, establish the basis for competitive sales prices, and co-operate with reliable and innovative partners world-wide.
MANN+HUMMEL's purchasing team thus focus consistently on long-term supplier development, extending and optimising purchasing from best-cost countries, and consolidation of suppliers.
The objective is profitable mutual growth with a first-class supply base. The Global Supplier Awards are both accolade and incentive.
In 2007, the purchasing volume of the MANN+HUMMEL Group amounted to approximately 1 billion Euros, made up of around 70% production material and approximately 30% trading goods and non-production material.
