SDC du Vieux-Montréal & MFW to present ART vs FASHION

Thursday, October 16, the 15th edition of Montreal Fashion Week will provide the backdrop for the premiere presentation of ART vs FASHION. This tour of art galleries will unfold in the streets of Old Montreal and showcase creative talent here at home.
At the heart of this unique evening, an urban crowd for whom creativity is definitely in fashion! To make your way around, simply follow the red carpets that will line the streets of Old Montreal along the trendiest route in town.
For the occasion, galleries will remain open until 11 p.m. A number of renowned establishments such as Roland Dubuc Jeweller, Galerie d'Art Bressan, Galerie Blanche, Galerie Malbork, Galerie Pangée, Nicolin & Gublin, Galerie Addis, Galerie Les 4 saisons, Galerie Zone Orange, Espace B51 will be taking part in this major avant-garde event. It should be noted that this evening is open to anyone and everyone who takes creativity to heart.
This initiative results from a request from national and international visitors to Montreal Fashion Week, who dearly wanted an opportunity to discover, upon leaving MFW, the many facets of Montreal creativity.
“This movement developed naturally. Audiences of MFW (photographers, stylists, designers) initiated alliances with the galleries where they wished to invite their clients.
We quickly realized that what we had here was a golden opportunity to bring the two worlds together in an absolutely unique evening where works of art and jewellery could come together with champagne and hors d'oeuvres,” explains Jean- François Daviau, o-president of Sensation Mode.
The SDC du Vieux-Montréal (Old Montreal Commercial Development Corporation) is pleased to join forces with Montreal Fashion Week, to produce the Galleries' Evening ART vs FASHION.
It is particularly proud of having such an outstanding partner to add to the excitement of the neighbourhood's 2008 calendar of cultural activities, a calendar that will, by the same token, contribute to the growth of Montreal Fashion Week.
The organizers of Montreal Fashion Week would like to thank the partners who make this evening possible: The Bay, Heineken, Hype, Eska and the SDC du Vieux-Montréal.
Montreal Fashion Week, it should be noted, will be held from October 13 to 17, and present the launch of the spring and summer 2009 collections.
