Sanrhea Technical Textiles Ltd is planning to establish a kevlar fabric processing unit in Gujarat and is currently seeking cooperation with DuPont.

Mr Tushar Patel, Managing Director of Sanrhea, confirmed the news to Fibre2fashion and said, “DuPont intends to bring its kevlar processing technology to India for which we are in talks with the company.”

Sanrhea is looking to process 100 tons of kevlar per month for industrial hose pipe use. A part of a 50 year old Ahmedabad-based textile group, this Company ventured into technical textile segment by setting up rubber fabric manufacturing facility in Kalol.

Mr Patel informed that Kevlar, trademark fabric of DuPont, has a high strength-to-weight ratio, which is being used all over the world for variety of products. Howver, it is still not very popular in India. Sanrhea plans to change that.

“The project may require an investment of around Rs15-20 crore. Once commissioned, this will be the first plant for para-aramid synthetic fiber for industrial use in the country.” said Mr Patel.
