According to available statistics from Customs Department, China imported 129,000 tons of cotton in September; a reduction of 58,000 tons from the previous month, a year-on-year decline of 105,000 tons, or 45 percent.
From January to September this year, China's cotton imports reached around 1,770,000 tons; a year-on-year decline of 6.7 percent.
In September, the country produced near about 1,905,000 tons of yarn; a year-on-year increase of 6.8 percent. From January to September, the country completed 15,979,000 tons of yarn output, showcasing yearly surge of 9 percent.
During the ninth month, China's textile and apparel exports reached US $18.01 billion, a growth of 1.9 percent year-on-year. From January to September, exports of these products totaled $136.94 billion, soaring by of 8.1 percent.
In September textile price slightly fell. Cotton carded yarn 32s averaged at 19,704 yuan per ton, down 60 yuan per ton or 0.3 percent from the previous month; polyester staple fiber price averaged at 10,889 yuan per ton, lowered by 509 yuan per ton or 4.5 percent from the previous month.
