Artisans advised to form associations to foster growth

A day long workshop was organised recently by the Central Region Development Commission (CEDECOM) to impart knowledge to artisans on means to maximize opportunities from the handicraft industry.

It was suggested by the Deputy Director that craftsmen should form associations to enable them to easy soft loans from financial institutions. He added y saying that these associations will foster competition along with providing an avenue for promotion and marketing of their wares.

He advised artisans to document their handicrafts to prevent duplicating of their products and also help in retaining their authenticity. Mrs Ama Abraham, Head of the tourism development unit, CEDECOM, also divulged that a handicraft workshop pavilion had been at Abrafo to help the craftsmen.
