He may not be as famous as Stella McCartney or Alexander McQueen, but his talent is up there with the industry's best - that was the verdict on Francis Woodruff, who received a top industry award as one of the fashion and textile sector's hidden heroes.

Francis, who is the Chairman at Whaley Bridge textile machine manufacturer WEB Processing, is one of only 50 people across the whole of the UK to receive a “Behind the Seams” award from Skillfast-UK, the Sector Skills Council for fashion and textiles.

Francis was nominated for the award by the company's Managing Director, Barry Goodwin. Barry praised Francis' role as he established the business in the late sixties and still at the age of 71 is working through his retirement, showing his dedication and passion for the textiles industry.

Both Barry and Francis will now be invited to an event in London on 11th November, celebrating all the Behind the Seams award winners. Francis' name will also appear in a skills roll of honour, which will be presented to Skills Minister David Lammy.

WEB Processing has grown into the undisputed leader in the development and supply of equipment for coating, laminating, flocking and specialised impregnation applications for the textile, paper and plastic industries. We have designed and installed over 850 machines in 52 countries world-wide.
