The Tamil Nadu state owned handloom retailing chain Cooptex has reported a jump in the Diwali festival season. Sales have jumped to Rs 620 million in the two week period compared to Rs 504 million in the same period of the preceding year to garner a growth of 23 percent.
The retailer has also been able to cross the set target of Rs 600 million. Discounts amounting to as much as 30 percent were on offer on silk and cotton-wear while ready-mades had to make to do with 20 percent.
Nearly 950,000 have made purchases from the 14 stores as well as 65 expanded sales counters set up across India, the numbers of customers have also has gone up by nearly 20 percent from the preceding year. The increase in sales has come about due to a sustained marketing campaign taken up by the retailer.
