According to the latest Customs statistics, in October 2008, China exported raw silk worth 763 tons, marking a drop of 207 tons or 21.34 percent from the previous month, and a year-on-year decrease of over 20 percent.
Export value registered US $19.99 million, down 21.69 percent from the previous month, and 15.85 percent as compared to same time of 2007. The average export price stood at $26,193 per ton in October, a fall of 0.44 percent from the previous month, but up 5.22 percent over the same period last year.
From January to October this year, China's total raw silk exports completed 11,779 tons, representing a rise of 3.12 percent over the same period of 2007. Total exports amounted to $296.21 million, a growth of 5.09 percent year-on-year. The average export price also marked a hike of 1.92 percent as against last year to touch $25,147 per ton.
