During the wee hours of Friday, a major fire broke out at the PP Plant operated by Mitsubishi Chemical. The facility has a production capacity of around 100,000 tons per year.
Sources from the Company informed Fibre2fashion, “It took almost 10 to 12 hours of hard work to extinguish the fire. Fire department along with company's officials, are investigating the cause of fire. The production at the plant is stopped for the time being.”
It was reported that the incident was not so big and the atmosphere is almost back on track. Production will restart after some time, but date is still not declared.
Further, as supply and demand situation is not so tight, this temporary shut down will not put any adverse effect on the production capacity, said the company official.
