According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, during the period from October 29 to November 7, this year, a strong drop in prices of imported cotton was observed at most of the markets.
The price quoted from India stood at US $1,220 per ton on average, declined 3.9 percent compared to previous week and 25.6 percent against similar period 2007.
Slight slump was seen at other markets including Cote Devoir at $1,616 per ton, showcasing a plunge of 4.7 and 6.6 percent, compared to previous week and lat year. Even at American Samoa prices went down by 5.8 percent.
However, the price quoted from US and Botswana stood at $1,669 per ton to $1,730 per ton.
